Instant heat, high energy efficiency, and low maintenance are amongst the benefits of Tansun's range of warehouse heating solutions.
Warehouses, distribution & online fulfilment centres are traditionally known to be some of the hardest areas to heat. With shutter doors constantly opening and closing and large open spaces, heating the area seems almost impossible.
Traditional gas systems which are usually installed in these large areas require constant maintenance. Below we run through some of the distinct challenges facing those trying to specify viable solutions.
Factors to consider when choosing a warehouse heating system
Keeping heat where you need it
Warehouses invariably have high ceilings and it is all too easy for any air that’s heated to rise up and accumulate near the ceiling. This can leave people working at ground uncomfortably cold. This is a process known as heat stratification and it is a major issue when you’re trying to heat buildings with high roofs.
It is reckoned that there can be as much as a 5 degree difference in temperature between the ground floor of a warehouse and the ceiling.
The heating system you choose needs to overcome heat stratification. Warm air systems do this by adding in destratification fans which take the warm air from the top of a space and recirculate it towards ground level.
Infrared heating provides a simpler solution as it doesn’t cause stratification. Instead, like the sun, the heat travels in straight lines and directly heats objects and people. Radiant heating, such as infrared, does not warm the air that it passes through.
Avoid racking acting as heat blocks
The vast amount and height of racking in warehouses can act as a heat barrier. This is where ceiling mounting infrared heaters come into the own. They can be positioned above the bays in between the racking and so provide even heat to employees working amongst the racking.
Dealing with loading bays
Loading bays are an integral part of many warehouses and distribution centres. These are regularly exposed to the outside air and are commonly the main source of heat escape. Radiant heating such as infrared has clear advantages here.
As radiant heat does not heat up the air it passes through, there is no danger of warm air escape. This means that colleagues working in and around the loading bays can work at comfortable temperatures whatever the weather.
Maintaining control over the heating
With the large hangar-like dimensions of many warehouses, it is vitally important that you can control heating remotely. Tansun offers a unique range of controllers that are compatible with the heaters, allowing full controllability of the economical heaters.
Minimising energy bills
Warehouse heaters often need to be continually all day. It is therefore imperative that you bear in mind the energy consumption and energy efficiency of the heating that you specify. Tansun's infrared heating solutions offer major energy savings versus traditional HVAC systems.
Avoiding climate-damaging emissions
Companies around the world are seeking to reduce or eliminate their net contribution to climate- damaging greenhouse gases. As executives look across their operations for where positive changes can be made, many are seeing heating of premises as a priority area. Gas-based systems are falling out of favour as they generate significant carbon emissions. Instead, many are turning to electric heating systems as they offer the potential for zero emissions at the point of use if renewable energy is used to power them. Of the options available, infrared is a popular choice as it offers very high efficiency ratings - up to 98% of energy is converted into heat.
Our range of infrared heaters
Tansun have a range of robust infrared heaters suited for all types of industrial heating due to their large heat spans and efficient running costs. These high quality infrared warehouse heaters are ideal for
factory heating as they have zero pre-heating time and can be situated inside the building, where operatives are working so no space is heated which is not required.
The Apollo range offers unrivalled reliability and easy installation making it the go-to 'space heater' for warehouses. Its perennial popularity also stems from the extensive configurations available - from 1kW to 18kW. Below we pick out a few models from the range.
Apollo A1K
The
Tansun Apollo A1K is a hard wearing, durable and reliable infrared heater designed to stand hours of consistent commercial and industrial use. Suitable for heating large areas, the heater is available in power configurations of 3kW, 4.5kW all the way up to 6kW.
Apollo A1B
The
Tansun Apollo A1B infrared heater is ideal for corner mounting due to flexible positioning of the heater and bracket combined. Available in 2kW, 3kW or 4kW power options, it provides instant warmth to objects and people, unlike other ineffective heaters that only warm the air around the object leaving the atmosphere stuffy and uncomfortable.
Apollo A3F2
The
Tansun Apollo A3F2 is the largest heater of the Apollo range, with heater configurations reaching up to 18kW. With a heat coverage area of 131.8m sq. it is perfect where you need heat across large expanses. It is also ideal for spaces with high ceilings. Heat from the Apollo A3F2 can be felt up to a staggering 15 metres above floor level.
